“Every cask tells a story. By aging our spirit first in Carlos I Brandy casks and then in Osborne’s exclusive VORS casks, this whisky offers a unique tasting experience, reflecting generations of mastery and tradition in Jerez.” Marcos Alguacil, Master Blender and Winemaker

Carlos I Single Malt whisky is produced using the traditional double distillation method to achieve maximum purity and complexity. The use of copper stills not only imparts a genuine character to the spirit, but also ensures even heat distribution and precise control at every stage of the process, guaranteeing excellence in every drop. (Inside the Cask comment: I am not yet clear on which distillery is producing the whisky in Spain).

For the first four years, the distillate rests in casks of Brandy Carlos I that have held Oloroso and Amontillado wines from Osborne for decades in El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz.

These casks have an average age of 70 years, with the wood imparting a subtle sweetness, aromas of fine wood, notes of vanilla and an elegant spicy background that defines the character of the whisky.

The final years of maturation takes place in exceptional VORS (Very Old Rare Sherry) casks, which have housed Amontillado 51-1ª (Solera 1830) and Oloroso Sibarita (Solera 1792) wines for generations. This final stage is carried out following the traditional and Criaderas and Solera system, a living process that provides additional layers of depth and complexity.
