The Brazilian Whisky Map tracks single malt whisky distilleries, independent bottlers and emerging whisky producers across Brazil, with locations, production histories and supporting sources.
Since 2019, Brazilian Single Malt whisky has been going through an evolution, with a significant amount of change firstly with Union Distillery starting to focus once again on releasing their branded products in the market and secondly, with the launch of the 1st single malt release by Lamas Destilaria from the state of Minas Gerais.
The market has continued to develop over these last 6-7 years with new distilleries starting to produce Brazilian Single Malt whisky (Alba Destilaria) and a planned incursion into whisky production by Weber Haus Distillery (source), better known for its production of cachaça.
More recently, we have also seen the emergence of Independent Bottlers of Brazilian Single Malt whisky, a concept which is not widely known in the country, except within groups of whisky enthusiasts. The first was Lunatic Asylum in 2024, followed by Work & Trust in 2025.

Note that there are other distilleries in Brazil producing new make spirit from malted barley and/or releasing whisky products in the market, however I have not added them to the list until I have confirmation that they are planning to release Brazilian single malt whisky products in due course – these include:
- 1953 Muraro Bebidas (Flores da Cunha, Rio Grande do Sul) – initially focused on wine related products, it acquired its first stills in the 60s and started producing vodka in the 70s. Muraro seems to have produced their Green Valley Whisky, with the slogan “the whisky of the empty bottle” since at least 1973. However there is no evidence available that this was distilled and matured by Muraro and more recently, the whisky is described as an ‘aperitivo de whisky’, which indicates it as a whisky-based product rather than a Brazilian Single Malt whisky. On its website, Green Valley is described as a blend of malt whiskies and spices. It also has the brand Blend Seven, described as a blend of malt whiskies and oak essence
- 2006 Destilaria Rech (Luiz Alves, Santa Catarina) – the Rech family traces production back to 1938, although the current company was registered in 2006. They have available both a Puro Malte (Single Malt) Whisky and a Whisky Turfado (Peated Whisky) on their online shop. I am still trying to determine whether there is evidence that this Brazilian whisky production from malted barley was distilled at Destilaria Rech
- 2010 Estilla Destilaria (São Roque, São Paulo) – producer of various distilled products and beer however the only whisky related product found is a cinnamon whisky with no evidence of Brazilian whisky production from malted barley
- 2012 Kalvelage Distillery (Blumenau, Santa Catarina) – producer of various distilled products, their vodka was released in 2013, followed by gin and other cereal-based spirits. They have released a Kalvelage Blended Whisky (visible on their Brazilian site) but no production details are provided and there is no evidence of Brazilian whisky production from malted barley
- 2017 Klauspergher Destilaria (Uberlândia, Minas Gerais) – producer of distilled spirits including the Grain Whisky Maclaus brand. No evidence found of Brazilian whisky production from malted barley
- 2017 Master Distillery (Várzea Paulista, São Paulo) – initially producing bulk gin before moving into alcoholic concentrates, extracts and other spirits. They have a Blended Whisky, a Single Barrel and also more interestingly, a Puro Malte (or Single Malt) product available for sale on its online shop however it is not clear if these were distilled and matured at Master Distillery
- 2019 San Basile Destilaria (Tuiuti, São Paulo) – has released a double distilled new make spirit product from malted barley but no Brazilian Single Malt whisky released as of yet
- c. 2020 Lord Whisky Distillery (Itajaí, Santa Catarina) – the brand name Lord Whisky was registered in 2017 and its founder is reported to have visited Scotland and Ireland around 2018. There is a 2022 report stating that seems to indicate that this small distillery operation are producing whisky and using it as a base for various liqueurs, however I have not yet found evidence of a Brazilian Single Malt product
- 2021 Destilaria Bonvento (Tupãssi, Paraná) – company originated in 1996 but its whisky business through the brand Whisky MacGyver started in 2021. A 2022 report states that this whisky was originally produced in Minas Gerais state, so this seems to have been sourced elsewhere
- 2021 Verve Destilaria (São Bento do Sul, Santa Catarina) – launched Verve Whisky in 2024 (available online) however there are few details available and no confirmation that this was distilled at Verve, so this whisky may have been sourced from another producer
