Living Souls is a new Scottish independent bottler specialising in small batch and single cask releases. It is the brainchild of three industry contemporaries: John Torrance, a spirit sourcing specialist who formerly served as head of operations at Douglas Laing and general manager at Tullibardine; Jamie Williamson, founder of UK spirits distributor Kilninian Drinks Co.; and Calum Leslie, creator of PeatReekers and ex-head of innovation at Loch Lomond Group.
The three friends have combined their expertise and passion for fine spirits and poured it into a brand that creates memorable limited-edition whiskies that are perfect for big occasions and celebrations. The team behind this new independent bottler was kind enough to agree to my invite and to spare some time to talk with Inside the Cask in person at their offices in Stirling.

Inside the Cask: Hi Calum, what is your background and history with whisky?
Inside the Cask: Hi John and Jamie, as I understand you already knew each other before Calum joined the team, but what is your own career experience to date?

Inside the Cask: What can you tell us about Living Souls, how it came together and your future ambitions for the brand?

Inside the Cask: Out of interest, what is the liquid inside the Living Souls 40yo Blended Scotch whisky bottle?
Inside the Cask: Calum, are we going to see PeatReekers again?
Inside the Cask: How do you see the Scotch whisky market at the moment? As a follow-up, what else are you passionate about outside of whisky?
Inside the Cask: What advice would you give to someone wanting to work in the drinks industry?
