Since the start of lockdown, both myself and a few friends have decided to join The Dram Team‘s monthly subscription service (cost £29.99) as a way to have a virtual social get together and enjoy a few whiskies in the process.

The Dram Team was founded by Chris Borrow back in 2016 and has benefitted from our need to remain connected in these difficult times. We started our subscription with the Regional Romp pack pictured below, including scotch whiskies from Auchentoshan, Balblair, Glen Moray, Jura, Longrow and Bowmore.

Whether you are a newcomer to the world of whisky, or a seasoned professional, these packs offer an easy way to sample 6 different whiskies every month in a themed box.

I particularly like to have (and now collect) the set of whisky cards, bringing a little bit of insight into the drams that you are drinking as well as the tasting notes, to confer and contrast with your own tasting experience. This is the adults’ equivalent of those Panini football cards of times gone by, when you were a child collecting and swapping cards with your friends.

The latest pack received was a Douglas Laing “Incredible Indies” themed pack, from the well known independent bottler. It included blended malts, single malts and even a single grain – a Girvan 30yo 58.1% abv.

There is apparently an option to receive the packs less regularly (either bi-monthly or quarterly) but we decided to continue our social get togethers monthly as a way to stay in touch, have a chat and a laugh and enjoy whatever whiskies are sent our way by The Dram Team.

Sláinte!

  • Hi Andre

I like the project and really love it the packaging. Also the whisky cards looks like vintage… a nice touch.

I’ll take a look on the Dram Team now

    Thank you for the recommendation
