About Us

The Dormant Distillery Company operate one of the worlds’ leading Whisky Specialist retailers and wholesalers, Royal Mile Whiskies. Founded in 1998, the company also run a specialist tobacconist on the Royal Mile – The Cigar Box – and in 2011 opened two specialist Drinks retail shops in Edinburgh and Pitlochry – Drinkmonger – with the vision to provide the most comprehensive range of quality alcohol products in Scotland. 

Along with their online business through www.royalmilewhiskies.com and www.drinkmonger.com, the company have also developed a wholesale business, supplying the on-trade across Scotland and beyond.  

The Role

Trade Sales – 

An opportunity has arisen to join the Royal Mile Whiskies and Drinkmonger team in our Trade department. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our growing Trade team to drive sales to the on and off trade throughout Scotland and potentially expanding into the rest of the UK. 

Job Requirements

  • An excellent working knowledge of alcoholic beverages, with a focus on spirits.
  • A thorough understanding of the drinks trade in Scotland.
  • An enthusiasm to drive sales and profitability. 
  • A clear vision regarding the management of a diverse customer portfolio.
  • A strong attention to detail, along with good communication and negotiating skills.
  • Effectively manage workload and availability.
  • Microsoft Office and CRM software skills.
  • A clean UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • To effectively manage a portfolio of diverse customer accounts, to ensure an excellent level of customer service and retention, whilst maximising sales and profitability.
  • Actively seek out new sales opportunities.
  • Work closely with Trade, Purchasing and Marketing colleagues to drive sales and meet budgeted margin targets.
  • Work with suppliers to provide effective and impressive customer events and training.
  • Use company stock management and CRM software in regular sales and profitability reporting to senior management.  
  • Work within a small dynamic team to develop clear strategies for growth.
  • Liaise with the finance team and customers to ensure an effective credit control system.

Additional Info, Salary, and Benefits 

This is a permanent, full-time post. The salary banding will be £28k-£30k, dependent on experience. A Group Bonus Scheme exists based on trading performance.

Our office hours are 9:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday. Some weekend work may be required. Flexible working is available.
