We’re the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, the home of “Filey Bay” Single Malt Whisky. We’re Yorkshire’s first-ever, award-winning single malt whisky distillery now selling in the UK and worldwide: It’s all made right here on the Yorkshire Coast using 100% own-grown barley.
We’re seeking a Finance Officer responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and management of accounts. You’ll need to be focused and organised, with great attention to detail. We are a very dedicated team with a clear goal, making it an exciting place to work, and you will be instrumental in helping the business grow.
The Job
Overall: bookkeeping and management accounts for a whisky distillery
Including but not exclusive to: payroll, RTI, pensions, credit control, VAT, bank postings, reconciliations, sales invoicing, payment runs, purchase invoicing and HMRC reporting, as well as working with the broader team to manage stock within our bespoke management system.
Your skill set:
Exceptionally organised and systematic
Practical and hands-on experience in accounts
IT literate, a Xero expert and a competent Excel/Google Sheets user, and quick to learn different software systems when needed
Good at dealing with people, including customers and suppliers
Efficient and able to manage your own time
You can work quickly AND accurately, as well as being highly organised and focused
You have good written and oral English language skills and can communicate clearly and effectively
Your attitude:
Polite, positive and approachable
Great attention to detail
The belief that “if it’s going to happen, it’s down to me.”
Proactive – you like to think and suggest rather than wait to be told
Enthusiastic and good at working as part of a team
The job specifics:
To start December 2023 (negotiable if necessary)
Salaried, c.40 hours a week
Working at the Distillery, Hunmanby Industrial Estate
Reporting to Senior Management
28 days holiday each year
