Real Drinks Group (RDG)is an award winning distributor and retailer founded in 2005 with extensive experience in beer, wine and spirits and the wider drinks market, working with the best brewers & producers from around the world.


RDG incorporates Beer Britannia, a significant supplier of beer to all of the UK Off Trade. They represent and manage sales and distribution for a number of well-known regional brewers, craft beer, wines spirits and alcohol free brands, who outsource all their sales, order capture, and fulfilment of their drinks supply for all Supermarkets, Convenience and Route to Market customers via Beer Britannia.

The Role

The Category Analyst will utilise customer, supplier, and market data to generate unique insights that unlock growth opportunities. The Category Analyst will support the delivery of RDG plans through analysis of internal and external data to benchmark performance and improve effectiveness and delivery of ongoing KPIs and objectives. This is a pivotal role within the business and supports the commercial team as well as the Senior Management team, to ensure a data lead approach across the business.


Key responsibilities


  • Acquire, integrate and deliver data providing the business with insight and analysis
  • Analyse and identify key drivers of performance and impacts of commercial mechanics and shopper dynamics on product, supplier, category, customer and market performance.
  • Collaborate with commercial managers and senior management to outline their specific data analysis needs
  • Manage, maintain and optimise key data reports for both internal and external stakeholders (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports)
  • Advocate a data driven culture across the business with a view to positively influencing decision-making
  • Work with existing & new customers (or external providers) to analyse macro market data for range & strategy reviews
  • Manage all external and internal partners data (EPOS, IRI, Nielsen)
  • Work with Senior Management on any external projects & presentations, Category/Market Reviews and also to keep them abreast of the latest advances in technology to assist with the role

Core Skills

  • Exceptional analytical skills, with expert knowledge of analytical tools and processes.
  • High numeracy and commercial acumen.
  • Understanding of customer operations and market range, data and insight tools.
  • Dynamic with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong commercial drive, able to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Knowledge/experience of Category Marketing principles.
  • Be able to bring insights, opportunities and possibilities to life.

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum depending on experience
