This role will lead the Paul John Indian Single Malt Whisky portfolio and the Malhar Indian craft gin range. Hailing from John Distilleries on the tropical shores of Goa, along the west coast of India, the Paul John whiskies are an acclaimed brand of Indian Single malt whisky that have deservedly attracted worldwide recognition and multiple prestigious awards. The Malhan Indian craft gin portfolio is named after the allure of Indian monsoons and dedicated to India’s soulful ragas that celebrate this glorious season, with refreshing flavours from small batch copper pot still distilling it is curated from exquisite botanicals and Indian spices.

We are looking for a passionate and driven individual who has a solid understanding of the UK spirit’s market. Ideally, with sales and ambassadorial experience within the UK premium on-trade / specialist retailers.

Job Purpose

Building the Paul John Indian single malt whisky and Malhar Indian craft gin brand portfolios in the UK by growing distribution, directly with target customers, wholesalers and through the Sazerac UK sales team, and by building the brand with consumers and customers through ambassadorial activation within customer venues, at relevant consumer and trade shows as well as supporting marketing activity. The role will deliver exceptional performance and execution in the UK market working closely with the UK marketing team and the Paul John global team.

Responsibilities & Critical Success Measures:

· Target specific high opportunity customers within the on-trade and wholesale sectors in priority UK cities including London.

· Build and grow customer relationships to increase meaningful distribution and brand build.

· Spend time with end users to develop a ‘need and demand’ for your portfolio.

· Identify and work with wholesalers and their sales teams to educate and drive distribution and advocacy.

· Showcase our portfolio range and key expressions in the right venues, integrating priority customer activity into brand plans to drive rate of sale.

· Decision makers will be F & B professionals, through to owners, bartenders and procurement.

· Be flexible in your time and sales approach, events, tastings, evenings and or weekends will be necessary.

· Averaging minimum of 6 appointments per day, 4 days a week.

· Based at home (London) you will travel throughout the country to priority UK cities for the brand.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

· Have a proven track record in proactive B2B sales. Having sold to a wide range of decision makers.

· A passion and love for the drinks industry and whisky. Have an awareness/interest in new market trends and consumer insight.

· Existing knowledge and experience with on trade and wholesale customers

· Worked for a manufacturer selling either direct to end users or via distribution partners.

· Ran a territory and your own diary, making appointments, generating leads, journey planning etc.

· Operate with integrity and professionalism. Be tenacious and creative with your new business approach.

· Have worked collaboratively with clients to create ‘win-win’ partnerships.

· Worked within the food & beverage sector with ambassadorial experience

· Networked throughout an organisation (both internal & external)
