Following my previous posts 6 months ago (July 2024) and 1 year ago (December 2023) on Single Malt Price Inflation in the UK, I have updated the data set to review how a selected number of Scotch whisky brands have fared using Amazon UK data. The main output is that prices seem to have stabilised within the Single Malt Scotch whisky brands sampled available via Amazon, although we have not yet seen too many examples of the expected deflation in pricing given current market conditions.
On the Premium set (18 years old or higher), the brands checked have decreased on average by 2.2% vs. 6 months ago, compared to the increase of 3.5% 6 months ago in July ’24 compared to December ’23. As an example, Glen Grant 18yo at £92.94 has reached one of its lowest pricing available (graph above).
On the Entry level set (10 to 12 years old), the brands sampled have increased on average by 3.4% vs. 6 months ago, which is less than the 6.5% increase seen 6 months ago in July ’24 compared with December ’23. The Singleton 12yo at £28 is the lowest priced example in the data set (graph below) although this looks like a promotional price based on a high/ low promotional model.

The price variation for Premium Single Malts (18yo-21yo) varies greatly by brand as per the table below. The combined pricing of the brands selected has decreased by 2.2% from £114.98 in July 2024 to £112.42 in January 2025.
Two brands are currently at their highest price level since 2013: Old Pulteney 18yo at £125 and The Glendronach 18yo at £182.38. The lowest priced brand within the data set is The Singleton 18yo at £63.55 and the highest is The Glendronach 18yo at £182.38.

The price variation for Entry Level Single Malts (10yo-12yo) varies by brand from £28 to £62.99 as per the table below. The combined pricing of the brands selected has increased by 3.4% from £39.14 in July 2024 to £40.49 in January 2025. Therefore at a faster rate of increase than their premium variants (declining at -2.2%) however with price reductions being used more frequently as part of promotions to drive sales.
Note also the expected impact of the UK duty by 3.6% from £31.64 to £32.79 for Spirits from 1st February 2025 (note: £32.79 per litre of alcohol in the product for duty on all alcoholic products exceeding 22% alcohol by volume – for more info click here).
Every company will have a different price and promotional strategy for their brands, which may also differ depending on format (bottle size), channel and country. This data set is merely a snapshot of the Single Malt Pricing in the UK using Amazon data available in the public domain.
