French whisky is being honoured in four sub-categories: single malts, single grains, single casks and blends. First produced at a French distillery in Brittany some forty years ago, French whisky production has since spread across the country, becoming a pillar of the industry. The category’s presence at the World Drinks Awards reflects the key role French whisky plays in the global scene.

French gin, second spirit in the spotlight, will be represented by the two sub-categories: classic gin and contemporary style gin. First appearing in France in 1930, gin enjoyed a renaissance in the early 21st century and is today one of the leading spirits on the market.
